Revealed: Greater Manchester's hospitals facing massive £114m deficit

All our acute trusts are predicting huge shortfalls in their revenues, apart from Bolton.

The biggest problem is at Central Manchester NHS Foundation Trust, which at current rates is expecting a £30m deficit by April, rising to £60m next year if no action is taken.

Board papers from last month admit the position is ‘wholly unsustainable’, although it is unclear how the gap between the rising costs of running the hospital and tightly-controlled budgets will be closed.
