What Can a Mayor do for your City? or when is a city mayor not a city mayor?

Knockout
Are we mancunians in Gorse Hill? I've always thought of myself as a manc, but we're not going to have a say in the person who is going to fight for our city, against the elected mayors of Birmingham, Liverpool, Sheffield etc. If the mayor was just going to play the joker in a revived 'It's a Knockout!', I wouldn't mind but this is important.

Appeal for Information from Greater Manchester Police

A man suffered burns after a car was set alight in Stretford.
At about 3am on Sunday 21 August 2011, emergency services were called to Davyhulme Road East after a red Ford Fiesta had been targeted by arsonists.
A 25-year-old man suffered burns to his hands and face and is being treated in hospital where he remains in a stable condition.
A few hours before the fire, at about 8.30pm on Saturday 20 August 2011, the owner of the car that was set alight, a 44-year-old woman, was racially abused by a group of men outside her house on Davyhulme Road East.
One person involved in the incident of racial abuse that police are keen to speak to is described as white, between 16 and 19 years old, of medium build, between 5ft 7in and 5ft 9on tall. He had light brown cropped hair and was wearing a t-shirt with a skull logo and ripped jeans.
Detective Inspector Ben Ewart, said: "I want anyone who witnessed the fire and/or the racial incident to contact police.
"One person has been left with nasty injuries and the owner of the car has lost her transportation but such a reckless and dangerous act could have had even more severe consequences.

"It is important the community works with us so the offenders can be brought to justice.
"All information will be treated in strict confidence."

Anyone with any information can contact Trafford CID on 0161 856 9169 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
