Ombudsman Confirms increase in bin complaints upheld

Outsourced bin collections leading to rise in upheld complaints

The outsourcing of waste collections by councils in England has led to an increase in the number of complaints being upheld by the ombudsman, a new report has warned today. The Local Government and Social Care Ombudsman (LGO) said it upheld 81% of complaints made about waste and recycling services last year.

Crime Map for Gorse Hill Ward showed increase in May

The latest crime statistics published by Greater Manchester Police show an increase in the Longford West area covering our ward. 118 crimes were reported to the police in May 2017. Councillor Mike Cordingley said "Clearly it's a somewhat worrying figure and we will be monitoring. We meet regularly with the police. We know they're stretched due to Government Cuts. The message has to be 'be vigilent, make sure your property is secure and report it.
Longford West covers Lostock and Gorse Hill and is coterminous with the residential area of Gorse Hill Ward.

Tesco to shut its Stretford Mall Store

Tesco is to close its store in the Stretford Mall - putting scores of jobs at risk.

The supermarket giant says it has made the bombshell decision because of poor trading figures.

Tesco’s regional director North and Northern Ireland, Jonathan Taylor, said, “Our priority now is to explain what this announcement means for our colleagues and wherever possible, offer them alternative roles with Tesco.
