Tory Council Tax hike on its way

Council tax in Trafford is set to rise by five per cent as town hall chiefs scramble to prop up hard-hit social care services.

The news comes following scrutiny councillors’ concerns about a £2m hole in the council’s budget plans less than two months before swingeing cuts of £22m have to be finalised.

Committee members, who are tasked with examining budget proposals in the borough, are concerned about the substantial gap ‘at this late stage of the process’.
