If you are aged 11+ and have an interest in acting, why not join our open youth theatre project. Led by our highly experienced youth theatre leader - Kate Robinson – the Act It Out! group devise, develop and perform their own drama pieces.Young People involved in the Youth Theatre are given the opportunity to do their arts award bronze. As part of their arts award the Act It Out! group get to go and see productions, most recently Romeo and Juliet at the Octagon Theatre.

£1.5m Boost for Towpath improvements
Cyclists and pedestrians using the Bridgewater Canal towpath are to benefit from a £1.5 million funding boost, after a successful bid for funding by Trafford Council and Transport for Greater Manchester to deliver the next three phases of the Bridgewater Way.
The grant, from the Department for Transport's Local Sustainable Transport Fund, will pay for upgrades to another five miles of the Trafford towpath and a number of improvements to access points and routes to the canal over the next couple of years. This will include sections between Trafford Park and Manchester United. This will build on the recent work by Trafford Council, Peel and the sustainable transport charity Sustrans, which has put in place a major upgrade to around three miles of the canal tow path between Sale and Stretford. This has been hugely successful and has seen a massive increase in the numbers of walkers and cyclists using the towpath.
Councillor Andrew Fender, Chair of the Transport for Greater Manchester Committee, said: "This is a great example of the improvements we're going to be delivering across Greater Manchester through our LSTF programme to encourage more people to take up active ways of travelling. The work that's already been done to improve the Bridgewater Way towpaths has proved to be really successful, so this latest investment will build on that and I look forward to the work getting under way soon."

Changes to the recycling service at Chester Road Household Waste Recycling Centre
From Monday 3 September 2012, the Household Waste Recycling Centre in Chester Road, Stretford, will see some temporary service changes while redevelopment takes place at the site.
This will affect what users can take to the facility to recycle and dispose of. The temporary changes will mean the site will NOT be able to accept the following material types:
- Waste Oil (both engine oil and used cooking oil)
- Textiles
- Media Banks
- TV and Computer Monitors
- Laptops
- Small Domestic Appliances
- Fridges
- Asbestos
- Mixed Recycling (glass, plastic bottles, steel and aluminium cans)
- Batteries (both automotive and dry cell household)
These service changes are as a result of redevelopment at the facility, which is being expanded to improve the site layout and allow for more materials to be recycled, with the aim of reaching a recycling target of at least 60 per cent.
The service changes are currently scheduled to be completed by the end of December 2012. During this time, recycling site operatives will be on hand to advise residents and re-direct site users to another facility if necessary.
