Police appeal for information after Lostock shooting
POLICE are appealing for information after a man was shot. Shortly after 2am on Sunday, police were called to Mossvale Road, Stretford to reports that a man had been shot.
When officers attended they found an 18-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his leg.He was taken to hospital where he remains in a serious, but not life-threatening, condition.
Police are now appealing for any witnesses or anyone with information to come forward. Chief Superintendent Mary Doyle said: “We have launched an investigation and we believe that an altercation took place outside Moss Vale Pub between 11.30pm on Saturday and 12:30am on Sunday morning.
“We are keen to speak to anyone who was at the pub between those times or who has any information about the altercation, no matter how small."I understand that people may be reluctant to speak to police, but you may know something that could help our investigation and I would urge you to come forward.“In the meantime we have increased patrols in the area and if anybody has any concerns or information then I would urge them to please speak to one of our officers on patrol or contact police.”
Anybody with information should contact police on 0161 856 7655, 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.

Doing so will ‘unlock the rail system’s fullest potential’, he says, allowing councils to spend existing rail budgets more wisely – while taking into account the needs of the region’s economy.
Meanwhile, fare setting would become more transparent, allowing rail users to see how their cash was re-invested.
Sir Howard Bernstein last year highlighted the West Coast mainline debacle – in which DfT officials bungled the franchising process at a cost of up to £40m – as demonstrating the need for devolution.

Kate Green condemns Eric Pickles for Abandonding Pollution Monitoring
Kate is challenging the government’s proposal to remove the duty for local authorities to report air quality figures and potential associated health risks.
The proposal comes after Tory minister Eric Pickles ignored local concerns over a proposal to add an incinerator's emissions to the air above Davyhulme, Lostock and Stretford, already deemed to be overly polluted. Mr Pickles wants councils to stop measuring air quality. |
