Humphrey Park Station subway gets a make-over. Some of us used to know this place as the Thunder tunnel as steam engines trundled over it. It never used to look good but thanks to the artistry of Lostock College pupils - it's had a facelift and we've never seen it look better.

Countdown to Marathon Begins

It's going to be difficult to drive through Stretford and Gorse Hill whilst the Greater Manchester Marathon is being run. We're advising residents to plan their journeys and to walk or cycle on that day if feasible.

Tories Foist New Poll Tax on Trafford

Millions of low-income households face a rise in their council tax bills costing them up to £600 a year from April under a "poll tax bombshell", according to new study. And Trafford is not excluded.
People in low-paid jobs and those on benefits who currently pay little or no council tax will be hit with increased bills within months in three out of four local authorities, it has emerged.
Most councils have decided to reduce the council tax benefit available for residents on low incomes after central government imposed a 10 per cent cut on the total subsidy budget. At present 3.2 million working-age households receive such support.

Support Special Educational Needs - Kate Green's Blog

This is a huge issue for parents in Trafford. Again and again I hear reports of families left without the services they need, parents fighting to get a statement of special needs, and worries about the future as children’s needs change as they grow older.

Recently, Trafford Council’s been consulting on its SEN provision. The government’s also due to bring forward new legislation to improve the “local offer” to families with disabled children.
